Training objectives
The seminar is designed to study and work on possible ways and tools addressing the problem of establishing and maintaining efficient communication and coordination in project environments. The participants will learn how to plan, organize and control project communications paying appropriate attention to both formal reporting and informal communications, including such key issues as:
- Aligning project communication tools and means with performing company's information infrastructure;
- Project stakeholders' personal communicative skills and knowledge;
- Project communications guidelines - what is a minimum required set of regulations;
- Project Managers role in setting up communication process
Course program
- Project communications management
Integrating communications plan into general project plan. Tools and steps for planning communications in projects. Making different types of information available for project stakeholders. Using information systems for storing, gathering and disseminating project information. Corporate project management guidelines: regulating communications.
- Information exchange and analysis requirements
Decision making process, and decisions implementation. Project reporting system: key performance indicators, types of reports on different organizational levels. Providing efficient technical communications: managing project interfaces. Project analysis tools: status reports and case studies, risk monitoring, milestones control, quality control, earned value management, "what if" analysis.
- Project communications and project team
Group problem solving methods. Effective meetings ground rules and hints. Decision making in project teams: responsibility allocation, problems escalation and change management process. Effective interpersonal communications ground rules and techniques. Project manager's duties in team building process to achieve effective communications. Communication barriers as a conflict source, conflict management techniques.
Target audience
Project managers and executives involved in projects as long as project processes improvement. Functional managers, project coordinators, project team members.
Program description
The course is held both as an open-enrollment seminar and in corporate mode. The program incorporates a business case study that encompasses the whole course and guides participants through all PM processes from initiation to closeout focusing on various motivation and communications aspects.
Participants get not only a hard copy of the course textbook but also a CD-ROM with the electronic version of the handouts and additional information on the main subjects of the seminar.
The course lasts commonly for two days, and the participants earn 16 PDU according to PMI R.E.P. program.
